Movie Review: The Amazing Spiderman

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

REVIEW:
 A much anticipated movie this one. Probably because it got a remake in ten years. And of course as it's normal, everyone's comparing it with Sam Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy. I'll probably do it too.

The story is based on the Ultimate universe of Marvel, which is supposed have slightly different stories than the original one. I have not read the comics, and i can't really say anything about that. Even the researching i do, it's half and half. Many say it's a good adaption, other don't.

Personally, i liked this take on the story more. Unfortunately, the plot had many holes in this one or common mistakes. There were also times it became a little slow (like the romantic aspect of the movie), while others it was going to fast (the death of Uncle Ben barely exists or affect you in any way).

What i really liked though was that for first time i saw Spiderman as a human. The movie concentrates more on the feelings of Spiderman, with less action than the original trilogy. Personally i preferred it because it gave an entirely different vibe. Andrew Garfield might not look exactly like the comics spiderman in appearance, but he was closer in character and gave an amazing performance. Seriously, i found him perfect. He is young and one of the really good and talented authors out there and it seemed like he was feeling every single scene. I still remember Tobey McGuire crying and me laughing my ass off on how fake was it, while here when Garfield expressed the same feelings i was stunned and speechless.
Another good thing is Gwen Stacy both as a character and as acting. She is way more interesting than Mary Jane and not the usual damsel in distress. She was actually useful, and witty and clever. And Emma Stone was really good as her too. Her connection with Garfield was really strong.

Now, the special effects part of the film. They were good of course but they concentrated way too much on 3D. I did not watch it in 3D so all the scenes that were in there for that reason, were more annoying than interesting.

In general is a movie i enjoyed. I would not put it better than Spiderman 1. Maybe a tie, but for a entirely different reasons. Surely better than Spiderman 2-3. As an individual movie a little bit above average.
