a month back i recommend a book (
Blind Thirst) by a young author named
Veronica Davis. Veronica had the chance at a really young age, to have her YA novel published! Ah..how many we wish that too! Now, we had the chance to do an interview with her and there is one thing i'm perfectly sure...the girl is pretty awesome! It was like talking to a friend...we have so many things in common and i love how much she loves everything she is doing. She is so enthusiastic and cute! -I really wanted to
ask you this question! It’s not exactly about your book though...You are so
young, only a year younger from us at the blog, but yet you have achieve so
much! I'm wondering, how you manage to find time for everything?
Awww. That’s awesome!
I was wondering what your age was. Well, I’m extremely organized and
prioritized. I know exactly when I have to do something. I line up deadlines
against the importance of the event or assignment. That’s basically
it!
-On your book now. I
want you to describe it in just once sentence.
BLIND THIRST deals
with a love affair between families that have a large history together that is
not positive at all.
-Now you can tell us a
bit more about it. A small summary by you.
The actual summary for
the book is the summary I wrote myself. J
-You have picked a
genre (YA) with hundreds of books the last years. You did that on purpose, or
you just start writing?
I just started
writing. I initially didn’t care what category or genre it fell under; it was
just me creating a world outside of this one. I never really concerned myself
with what it was, just what I was doing with it.
-What inspired you to
write, you took any ideas from other books, games, movies etc?
My friends actually
inspire me to write. I listen to their interests and I try to combine them. But
of course I do because everything is derived from something else.
-Did you do any
research before start or during of the writing of the books?
I
usually do research DURING the writing process. It’s so the research is fresh
and I can properly combine the storyline with factual information. If there’s a
character I created where I didn’t experience what they have personally, I do
research the problem. I put myself in their shoes to the best of my
ability.
-Which scenes were the
hardest to write?
None of them actually.
Now in the novel I’m working on right now there are some tough ones simply
because it’s a more emotional storyline. It’s more realistic. It’s more mature.
I’ve matured in writing a lot since I was 17. I knew that when I published at 18
that my future work would be a large stretch from Blind Thirst and it is.
-How long has it taken
you to write a book?
Blind Thirst took 3
months. My current one has taken over a year. I’m taking my time. It’s also
taking longer because of college, but I do hope to get it out by Fall
2011.
-What’s the best part
of writing for you?
Being able to create
my own world. Being able to escape from the not so happy aspects of life and
going into something amazing that I can control.
-Are you reading or
writing something else at the moment?
Yes I am. Reading and
writing simultaneously.
-Did you have support
at the beginning and/or during your writing?
I did, yes. My family
knew not to disturb me. That was how they supporter me. Haha. I was like HEY
GUYS I’M GONNA GO WRITE AND YOU’RE GONNA STAY RIGHT HERE! Haha. No, but
seriously my family and friends supported me. We always support each
other.
-Did you always had in
mind to be a writer or it just happened?
Since I was 8 years
old I knew I wanted to be a writer. You should see my bookshelf. I’m ridiculous.
I go to the bookstores and treat it like Christmas. I stock up on all types of
novels. I just don’t like non-fiction. That’s the only thing I won’t
buy.
-How important you
find the communication between you and your readers? Do you reply to their
messages or read their reviews?
It’s extremely
important to me because though I originally stated I’m writing for myself (which
I still am) it’s grown into a shared project. I want my readers to read my work
and feel that they were apart of it because they were. So I read what everyone
says. I take it into deep consideration, and depending on the comment I work to
improve my work or add or subtract. Not always. Haha, but often. Because
everyone wants something different and you can’t please them all.
-Are you working on
any other projects except writing, right now?
Yes. I’m working on a
children’s organization with my sister. I’m also working on fan sites for a few
of my favorite entertainers. That’s about it.
-You have an amazing
fanbase! They are all so supportive! How do you feel about it?
Oh my God. I feel
absolutely incredible. I never thought an author could mean THAT much to anyone!
They are all my sweethearts though. I want to continue to make them happy and
proud. They’ve done so much for me and I appreciate each of them from the bottom
of my heart. They are a loyal, amazing, insanely wonderful group of
people.
-What you would say to
any other young writers out there? If I’m not mistaken, most people who start a
book don’t finish it. I know I didn’t XD
Hahaha. It can be
slightly complicated to finish, but it’s all about discipline really. If you
believe enough in what you’re writing no matter if it’s fantasy, drama, comedy,
whatever…if you believe in it you’ll make it happen. I know
writer’s block to be an evil little thing, but if you get that frequently as I
do just take a step away from your novel. Take a break. Don’t force it. It will
come in time.

guess...haha…It eventually touches every surface and my goal in writing is to
touch on every genre.
