Cinders Review

Cinderella's happily-ever-after isn't turning out the way she expected. With her fairy godmother imprisoned in the castle and a mysterious stranger haunting her dreams, Cinderella is on her own to discover true love untainted by magic.

 REVIEW:
It's sad when you get in your hands books that have a story with great potential, but they don't turn out well. And i really mean it, that if it was done better job with the story would be a great and enjoyable book.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It felt poor written, like the writer didn't put much love in it. Like it was done fast, just to be done. 
The characters didn't have depth. They were sallow with no personality at all. I couldn't understand them or connect with any of them. 
Everything was written in  hurry. I never had the chance to get my mind into one scene, and without even notice i was in another. It didn't gave me the chance to think about it or even just enjoy a scene. 
Plus, many parts were repeats of others. Not only the book was less than 200 pages, but it was repeating itself. I was like "oh come on...she said that at the previous page too".


I don't really recommend the book. 

P.S: I just saw that all the reviews at Goodreads give it about 3-5 stars. You may want to read those too before get to a conclusion.

Series We Loved: Prison Break

Prison Break premiered in August 2005. The show was an immediate hit and followed Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) as he engineered a daring escape from Fox River Penitentiary to free his wrongly convicted brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) from Death Row. With the prison break a success, the brothers, along with six additional escapees, were part of a nationwide manhunt headed by FBI Agent Alex Mahone (William Fichtner), who later was revealed to be working for The Company, a shadowy government organization that had initially framed Lincoln.

The action then moved to Panama where the tables were turned and Lincoln worked to free Michael from the hellish prison SONA. After eventually escaping from Central America, the brothers teamed with Homeland Security Agent Don Self (Michael Rapaport) to dismantle The Company once and for all by stealing SCYLLA, a device that contained the organization's most valuable secrets. Following a series of double-crosses, the brothers now find themselves racing to retrieve SCYLLA, which unbeknownst to them has landed in the possession of their estranged mother and Company operative Christina (Kathleen Quinlan).

Why we love it?
Well..it's not love exactly but i totally enjoyed the whole mystery and running and staff. Never missed an episode. Sometimes it became tiresome though...especially the 2nd and 4th season. It was again and again, going to prison escape and blah blah. Anyway, it still was making me anxious and i liked complex the characters were and how strong their relationships became. It didn't really have a good ending but what can we do....And when they ended the series with a scene 3 years after the event, at least the had the decency to create a movie to fill us of that period. It might not be the best series, but i still believe it was really clever and interesting. And well...i adored Michael's epic tattoo-idea XD

Tormented, Review

A bullied teenager comes bach from the dead to take revenge on his classmates.

REVIEW:
So I can come clean after my review, let me tell you something about myself. I don't watch many horror movies, and when I do, it is because I like one or two of the actors starring. Tormented is one of those movies. I really like Alex Pettyfer and I had to watch this movie.

Back to my review:
I liked the plot. It was different. Not the raising-from-the-dead part, but the part where the bullied teenager is killing his bullies. If you have or had bullies in your high-school, you understand how the dead kid was feeling. Besides that, the movie gives a message to all the bullies out there, that you never know what is going to happen.
I liked the murders. Not something I tell often, but most of the murders happened in the school hours, which means that there were not scary dark moments.
And I liked the end. Never expected that. Can't tell you what it was , because I'll ruin the story, but it wasn't something you often see.

What I didn't like was this: Every time a girl was going to die, all that she was telling was:"What have I done to you?" which was the most stupid thing I've ever heard. I just wanted to scream on them "You know damn well what you did,now shut up and say you're sorry. It's the only thing you can do". But, of course, I didn't. Or did I?

Anyway, last thing I want to comment is Bradley's death. I knew how he was going to die, because I've an interview of Alex Pettyfer, so I have to say that this was one of the most unique deaths. I would never wish a death like this to any guy out there, good or bad.

Bottom on, I liked the movie, it wasn't as scary as the trailer wanted you to think, but I had a nice time last night and I recommend it to you, if you are not a horror movie type.

Dracula : Review

About : A naive young Englishman travels to Transylvania to do business with a client, Count Dracula. After showing his true and terrifying colors, Dracula boards a ship for England in search of new, fresh blood. Unexplained disasters begin to occur in the streets of London before the mystery and the evil doer are finally put to rest. Told in a series of news reports from eyewitness observers to writers of personal diaries, this has a ring of believability that counterbalances nicely with Dracula's too-macabre-to-be-true exploits. An array of voices from talented actors makes for interesting variety. The generous use of sound effects, from train whistles to creaking doors, adds further atmosphere. Lovers of mysteries and horror will find rousing entertainment in this version of a classic tale.

Review: Dracula is a classic horror book written in 1897, so the writing style is a little different. You can not read it very fast and sometimes there are idioms which are hard to understand, also occasionally the spelling of the words is changed. You will also notice words that we don't use now that mush, such as “poor”, “fellow”, “i shall..”.

Bad things: I did not like the writing style, but that is only because it is a very old book. Also the book was separated in chapters which did not make sense. A chapter with the title “Mina Harker's Journal” had also entries from “Jonathan Harker's Journal”. Generally I don't like reading stories described in journals so I didn't like that part either. Some times I felt like there were many details, about how the characters felt and what they have done, as a result it was boring.

Good things: The story is fascinating, it is thrilling, hair- raising. I loved the dark scenes in the first chapters, in Count's castle. All the agony Jonathan had, all the things he saw but did not understand..But on the other hand I wanted to read more about what was going on in the castle. Also I loved the scene with the wolfs in the beginning. My favorite character was Dr. John Seward. His discriptions were great. The most characters of the book are men, exept Mina and Lucy but it was facinating that when you read the entries of women it felt like a woman was writting, the same with men.

To sum up Dracula is a must read, it is a classic and if you also like vampire fiction, horror books you should try it. Finally don't forget to check Misha's review too in my love afair with books here !
