Dragon Age Origins Review

"Once every few hundred years, the Darkspawn Blight comes to the fair lands of Ferelden. Agents of darkness, bringers of evil, these unholy creatures cut great swathes of pain across the earth. They are led by the Archdemon, an ancient beast of immense power, and they would surely destroy us all if it were not for the stalwart courage of the Grey Wardens. They alone stand against the horrors of the Blight, forever our vigilant guardians, protecting us from harm. They perform their duty without thanks, for lately, there is none to give. Ferelden is split, torn asunder from the highest castle of a Noble Lord to the darkest corner of a Dwarven mineshaft.

These are dark times. Against the backdrop of backstabbing politics, racial unrest and the shadow of civil war, the remaining few of the Grey Wardens have begun to hear rumours of Darkspawn movements. Their worst fear is about to come true: the Archdemon is on the move once again. Only a unified force will be able to fight this coming Blight. In Ferelden, unity is a dirty word.

Things are about to get a little messy."
In DragonAge Origins you create and play a Grey Warden, a special cult of warriors with one single purpose, to hunt and kill the darkspawn trheat. The hero, or heroine, can be a dwarf, human or elf, and each of them might have their own backround story. The player will experience a different introduction story, as well as some changes in certain places depending on his or her race and backround chosen. He will face various opponents alongside many companions (some are added with downloadable content) and can achieve a romantic relation with one or even more of them (Seriously, the game has also homosexual romantic stories). Together with his team he will embark on quest on different settings and fight numerous opponents, ranging from the evil darkspawn to undead skeletons. In the end he will be called to end the Archdemon and put an end to the civil war as well as the darkspawn threat.

A House of Night Series: Marked, Review

After she is Marked, 16-year-old Zoey Redbird enters the House of Night and learns that she is no average fledging. She has been Marked as special by the vampire Goddess Nyx. But she is not the only fledging at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is mis-using her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny- with a little help from her new vampire friends.

    REVIEW:
When I first bought this book I had just finished with the Twilight Saga and I knew that I hadn't end with the vampire world yet. There was this vampire atmosphere around that couldn't let me go. Anyway, I bought Marked because it seemed diffirent from Twilight. And it was.

It tells about 16-year-old Zoey and that one day in her school this zombie-guy appears and tells her that from now and on she is a vampire. The only choice she has is for her to move to House of Night, a special school for vampires that can teach and take care of her. Soon enough she figures out that she's special. The only condition she has is that she will have to let go all of her human friends and family, like her mother and step-father-which is fine by her, her grand mother-who's like mother to her, and her boyfriend-who still likes, but....

The reason I liked this book is that it's out of all those clissees about bites and stuff. When you become a vampire in this world you get marked in the middle of your forehead and as you grow up-because you grow up untill some age- your body fills with tattoos that mean something to you. Also, your body changes-from natural to supernatural- that can kill you for real. And last but not least, vampires eat real food as us humans and some blood-when they grow up. Not big deal.

Even thought it's been written in the first person and you follow Zoey's mind around you still can figure out stuff before her. The language of the book is really simple and that has to do with the fact that there are two writers for the book. Kristin Cast and P.C.Cast, mother and daughter. I really can't tell how they co-operate on something as big as writing a book-well, books, Marked is only the first-but they do a nice work.

Anyway, if you are looking for something better than the Twilight Saga don't buy this book. But if you are looking for something pleasant that's still on the vampire world and don't need much effort, then it's a great choice.

Last advice I have to give you. This series are only for girls. Sorry guys but it seemed easier for me to write something girlie for my first book review. But I promise I'll find something for you too.

    My Mighty Princess Review

KANG So-hwi, a beautiful martial arts prodigy, is about to embark on a journey into adulthood. But her journey is like no other. Her super-human strength and martial arts prowess scares away her fellow undergrads and even the boy she has fallen for. Devastated, So-hwi decides to give up martial arts and takes a different path. Her father, a martial artist himself, is afraid of losing an heiress to the family’s martial artistry, and missions So-hwi’s old buddy Ilyoung to persuade her to stay in the field. Meanwhile, the evil Heuk-bong provokes a war to conquer the martial arts world with the legendary Fine Blade he stole in the past, killing every swordsman one after another. So-hwi’s father comes to a showdown with Heuk-bong, but the battle leaves him fatally injured. On the brink of her father’s death, So-hwi picks up a sword again with a burning desire for revenge

    Review:

Time for a not-famous movie! My Mighty Princess is a Korean movie from 2008.
Main character of the movie is college girl named So-hwi. So-hwi is a really strong girl with education in martial arts from her father and mother. But in our world, all that power is a problem for her. The rest people  mocking her and her the guy she likes, not even pay attention. After that she decides to leave martial arts behind and live like a normal girl. Something that her father don't like at all. That's why after a council with the other three great teachers, they decide to bring So-hwi old best friend back to convince her fight again. The rest movie continue with Ilyoung's and So-hwi's strange relationship and her fight to win the boy she likes. But then, when you are not expecting it an enemy from the past is coming and everything is getting a really strange turn.

I'm not really into Korean/Japanese movies except about 4-5 good ones but this one is my favourite. There is no any "wow" special effects or a high budget movie but it has things that are really difficult to be found in Hollywood movies.
-An amazing and really unique background story. Our world combined with well known mythical martial arts and swords. While the movie continues normally there is a part which will change the whole plot and make you stay it "Awe".I have seen hundreds movies and i'm usually i can find out what will happen next but in this one i was truly surprised. It's not just a story. With the time reveals many more.
-The actors are freaking great! Probably they are from the most contagious actors i have seen. They make the feelings of the characters reality. All of them are unknown to me but they are great. I wish Hollywood had actors like that. For example, the final battle is all about feelings. While it's not the bloody thing we are used to see but they keep it simple, the acting is that well done that you can feel it too (and of course has swords and a little blood). I was watching and i had became So-hwi. Her expressions, the colouring of her voice...And it's not just So-hwi. All the main actors can be at the same level with her. I'm trying to avoid to discuss them though, cause i will destroy the plot.
-Is funny. Believe me i almost died from laughing. I have watched the movie 3 times and every time i was laughing like it was first. It might not be a comedy but they didn't forget to put some of it in.
-The relationships look real. They can exist beyond that fairytale you see. Maybe that's another reason why you can understand the characters so well. Because you will do the same if you were in their position.
-Last but not least, the music is wonderful. Actually all of the Asian soundtracks are really melodic and fairytail-ish. In this one, matching with the great acting and story, it sounds even better.

If i don't stop now, i will continue writing. I really love that movie and i strongly believe you need to see it. I know it's hard to get used to the language but you will really enjoy it. It's a nice escape from the usual Hollywood movies we watch all the time. Different is good.

My Mighty Princess is a fairytale-funny-sad and breathtaking movie.

    Inception Review

Dom Cobb(Leonardo Di Caprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

    Review:

Critics say that Inception is the best movie of the summer. I say it's one of the best movies i have ever seen. And the best movie from Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight, The Prestige, Batman Begins). I have already watched it twice and i don't have problem to watch it again and again.

In the movie, we follow Cobb and his team while they are trying to achieve an inception. Once again it's a movie you don't need to say many about its plot because you will destroy it. Dreams, fantasy, cleverness are the main parts of the movie. Nolan made 2 hours movie and he achieved to make you think it's far more less. Is fast and you are always up and curious to see what will happen next. And as far as the movie go, you can feel more the anxiety and the feelings of the characters.

Main character of the movie is Cobb, portrayed by Leonardo Di Caprio. Once again Di Caprio show us his acting skills and put his mark once again as one of the best actors out there. You can even feel the character from the color of Di Caprio's voice as he speaks and becomes one with it.
Then we have the rest team with Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Dileep Rao and the two persons who are playing with in the dreams, Cillian Murphy and Tom Berenger. Each one of them portrays a different personality with different quality. All of them have done such an amazing job with their characters that fit so perfectly in universe of the movie, who makes you forget that actually they are not real.
Last but not least, we have Marion Cottilard as Cobb's wife. I have to admit is the only actor from all i have mentioned that i haven't seen before. I don't know about other movies but in here she was gorgeous. She was creeping me out in the whole thing exactly like it was her job to do. Jeezz..i would never want a husband who acts like her!Not that i can't understand why she is acting like that...

Well if you have watch Nolan's Prestige you know what unique mind he has and what amazing ideas pass to audience. Inception is much much better. Not only because is something you haven't' see before, or because it's mysterious in a really good way but because also when the movie it's over you are wondering "This whole thing can be true. This whole fantasy he created how we know it's not exist?". Seriously i had that thought in mind. I really believe you need to watch that movie! You will enjoy it for sure.

P.S: Does anyone else noticed that Michael Caine has a part, even small, at all the latest movies of Nolan?

    The Boat That Rocked, Review

"The Boat That Rocked" is an ensemble comedy in which the romance takes place between the young people of the '60s and pop music. It's about a band of rogue DJs that captivated Britain, playing the music that defined a generation and standing up to a goverment that, incomprehensibly, preferred jazz. The Count, a big, brash, American god of the airwaves; Quentin, the boss of Radio Rock--a pirate radio station in the middle of the North Sea that's populated by an eclectic crew of rock & roll DJs; Gavin, the greatest DJ in Britain who has just returned from his drug tour of America to reclaim his rightful position; Dave, an ironic, intelligent and cruelly funny co-broadcaster; and a fearsome British goverment official out for blood against the drug takers and lawbreakers of a once-great nation.

    Review:
I have to be honest with you people. Seeing the trailer wasn't the best for me. I didn't like it at all. After some months it came out on DVD and I read that it was inspired by a true story and that made me exiting.
Do you all know how the term "piracy music" began? Well I didn't but that movie made me understand.

Placed on North Sea there is a boat called Radio Rock that has all the equipment a radio station has. The people on the boat are calling themselves pirates. They are actually DJs and their main music? Well, we are on '60s so guess the music. Those guys live for their music and they have their own culture. That doesn't change even when a young boy goes to live with them after he kicked off his school. They teach him the importance of music in peoples' lives and that wherever you are there's always going to be music. But the DJs have enemies. In this case the goverment that believes DJs music is bad for people and do their best to close the radio station.

Ok, I can't tell anything about the acting, because they all are magnificent. I can't tell anything about the stands, because they were great. The clothes? I wasn't living at this time. And the script? Well, no words.

Now, the movie was funny and the characters are unique. Each one of them has something to offer this film. They are diffirent but together they combine a nice group of people that make you laugh until you cry.

'60s for me is the best decade for this world. Too many things happened on this decade that affected the world in so many ways. For those that don't know '60s are the Golden Years. Some words that might help you: Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll. That's right people get ready to enter in the world that changed everything. From fashion, with the mini skirts to music, with rock & roll and sex revolution, you don't need my comment on that.

I'm only going to give you one advice. If you want to see the movie, don't download it. Rent the DVD, so you can see the extras. You have to see the deleted scenes. There are not like those you've seen in the past, trust me. The director himself says in the beggining that if he had to take away 45 minutes from the film and put those deleted 45 minutes, then he would do it. But the story must go on.

Buttom on, this is a great movie that you should see even if it's not your type, just to explore the line between old-fashion and modern world.

    Witchville Review

The film tells the story of Prince Malachi (Luke Goss) and his friend Jason (Ed Speleers), a reluctant son forced to take his part as the head of his country after his father dies. The land he returns to is a wasteland, made destitute by an unknown scourge. Unknown until a witch hunter tells him that the cause of the scourge is a coven of witches. The prince and his merry men head off to defeat the Red Queen (Sarah Douglas) and save his kingdom.

    Review:
Well last night (amongst other movies) we watched Witchville, a SyFy special. Personally i like most of the movies SyFy makes. Anyway, the movie had a decent scenario which managed to keep the viewer's attention throughout the movie, and with rather good performances for the actors. Obviously, compared to other movies with a higher budget and better cast it stands pretty low, but i was surprised (and a bit glad) to see that the movie stood its ground amongst other more "serious" of the kind, such as Dungeons And Dragons (I mean seriously, bald bad guy with blue lips? sheesh!) . The movie managed to be funny at times, even though not intended, especially by the dialogues who seem to be all the cliche responses to the most cliche of all scenes. In conclusion i found it a rather decent movie with its ups and downs, but overall a pleasant enough to watch, with ok soundtrack and acting. Not necessarily a "must watch" film, but if you are one the type of person that likes to watch those kinds of films i think you would rather have a nice time.

P.S I am pretty new to this whole, blogging, reviewing thing so please be easy on me :P
P.S2 Thanks for the editing Yiota :P I really forgot to..let me think..actually review the film :P

Anberlin's New Album: "Dark Is The Way Light Is A Place"

Here i posted a link of a new video by Anberlin. The alternative punk band (personally i would say it is an emo band, before emo became obnoxious idiots trying to slit their throats :P) was formed in 2002 is an alternative rock band and one of my favorites of the kind (yes i listen to many types of rock music, George and Yiota know) has about 4 studio albums, 2 compilation albums as well as singles and demo's. I suggest that if you are a fan of Jimmy Eat World and stuff you should be sure to check them out. Well that would be all by me for now. C ya

    The Lost Symbol Review

In this stunning follow-up to the global phenomenon   The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown demonstrates once again why he is the world's most popular thriller writer.   The Lost Symbol is a masterstroke of storytelling--a deadly race through a real-world labyrinth of codes, secrets, and unseen truths... all under the watchful eye of Brown's most terrifying villain to date. Set within the hidden chambers, tunnels, and temples of Washington, D.C.,   The Lost Symbol accelerates through a startling landscape toward an unthinkable finale.

As the story opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, however, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object--artfully encoded with five symbols--is discovered in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation... one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.

When Langdon's beloved mentor, Peter Solomon--a prominent Mason and philanthropist--is brutally kidnapped, Langdon realizes his only hope of saving Peter is to accept this mystical invitation and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon is instantly plunged into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and never-before-seen locations--all of which seem to be dragging him toward a single, inconceivable truth.

As the world discovered in   The Da Vinci Code and   Angels & Demons, Dan Brown's novels are brilliant tapestries of veiled histories, arcane symbols, and enigmatic codes. In this new novel, he again challenges readers with an intelligent, lightning-paced story that offers surprises at every turn.   The Lost Symbol is exactly what Brown's fans have been waiting for... his most thrilling novel yet.

    Review:

The fact is that i wasn't planning to buy this book at all and i have never read before a book by Dan Brown (i have watched the movies for The Da Vinci Code and Angels&Demons though). When i got the book as present i thought "why not?".

    So here we are.

The also known from the previous books professor Langdon was summoned once again to solve a mystery. Action, deaths, history, codes, ancient riddles are as always part of the story. I believe it's best to not reveal more of the story since the official summary of the book says already what's important. But i will describe more what i'm thinking about other parts of the book.

At the start it was really confusing and difficult for me to read but after some chapters i get used to Brown's writing style. I really liked how he was describing the places, real or not. He gives you exactly the right details that needed so you can imagine and feel like you are there, next to the character.
Huge part of the story are symbols, history and stuff related with them. If you think you can't keep up with the book because you are not expert in those fields, then you are mistaken. The Lost Symbol is a book for all. Dan Brown explains every single thing that he mentions. Maybe sometimes the info is too much and get you a little tired but in the end you still have in your mind the basic details that needed to keep up with the book. Plus, you are learning new interesting facts about our world's history.
Lastly, i would like to add the meaning of the book. I will not tell you the conclusion but in the last 3 chapters you will get so many food for your brain that will truly surprise you. The writer not only writes a wonderful story but he also states some really good questions about our existence, our future and the power a human has.

I think Dan Brown as one of the best and most clever authors that ever existed. It is good to see that there are still people out there with their own ideas and who are not following the trend of our years. And i promise you that you would love The Lost Symbol, an entertaining story accompanied with a bit of things worthy of our thoughts.

Hoag's Object: A Strange Ring Galaxy Credit: R. Lucas (STScI/AURA), Hubble Heritage Team, NASA

Explanation: Is this one galaxy or two? This question came to light in 1950 when astronomer Art Hoag chanced upon this unusual extragalactic object. On the outside is a ring dominated by bright blue stars, while near the center lies a ball of much redder stars that are likely much older. Between the two is a gap that appears almost completely dark. How Hoag's Object formed remains unknown, although similar objects have now been identified and collectively labeled as a form of ring galaxy. Genesis hypotheses include a galaxy collision billions of years ago and the gravitational affect of a central bar that has since vanished. The above photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in July 2001 reveals unprecedented details of Hoag's Object and may yield a better understanding. Hoag's Object spans about 100,000 light years and lies about 600 million light years away toward the constellation of the Snake (Serpens). Coincidentally, visible in the gap (at about one o'clock) is yet another ring galaxy that likely lies far in the distance.

    Remember Me, Review

In the romantic drama, Remember Me, Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious young man in New York City who has a strained relationship with his father(Pierce Brosnan) ever since tragedy seperated their family. Tyler didn't think anyone could possibly understand what he was going through until the day he met Ally(Emilie de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate. Love was the last thing on his mind, but as her spirit unexpectedly heals and inspires him, he begins to fall for her. Through their love, he begins to find happiness and meaning in his life. Soon, hidden secrets are revealed, tragedy lingers in the air, as the circumstancesthat brought them together threaten to tear them apart. Remember Me is a story about the power of love, the strength of family, and the importance of living passionately and treasuring every day of one's life.

    REVIEW:
When I first saw the trailer I thought that is going to be a successful movie just because Robert Pattinson stars. One day I was on the DVD store when I saw it. At first I didn't want to rent it, but I knew that is going to be a boring night without a movie, so I did.

It's about this guy who has family issues and one day he gets beat by a policeman. His best friend finds out that this policeman has a daughter who goes at the same university as they do, so he persuades him to make her fall for him and break her heart. But somewhere in between the guy and the girl fell for each other.

The movie has everything that promises:
Pierce Brosnan in a role that suits him best as the guy's dad who believes that with his work and his money is going to make things better. His role is one of those that needs an experience actor as him to be real as it looks.

For the girls: Robert Pattinson shirtless. BUT believe me when I say this. He is a good actor. His character has his ups and downs and Robert can make them look real. He convinces more for his acting skills than in the Twilight Saga.

Emilie de Ravin with tiny shorts that makes you feel jealous adout her body. Her character reminds me nothing from Claire in Lost. And it's an opportunity for us to see her like that and think that she will become more famous that she is already.

And then here comes the end. And I'm stuck in front of my TV with my eyes wide open thinking what the heck just happened. I am not one of those people that watch to many videos or read to many reviews and I'm glad about it. Because if I did, then probably I wouldn't believe what I saw. It was magical. This is the magic that the directors, screenwriters and actors try to make. And those guys did.

I don't know if you would like to see it or already saw it but I advice you that the movies that are not really those that we want to see, are those which surprise us best.

    Hush, Hush Review

Nora's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, she is drawn to him against her better judgement. But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and knows more about her than her closest friends. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel. For Nora is right in the middle of a centuries-old battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and sooner or later, she's going to have to pick sides..

    Review:
    Hush,Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

When I bought the book, I assumed that I would read something like Fallen by Lauren Kate. I was wrong and I have not regretted it at all.

Mainly character of the book is the 16-year-old Nora. A quiet girl, not in an annoying way, which for me was easy enough to understand her and her feelings.
Beside her is her best friend, her mother and later the other major character of the story, Patch, who is coming along with other mysterious characters. Apart from Nora, Vee and her mother all other characters are a real mystery and diverse enough to change their characters and the story.

While the beginning of the book is Twilight alike, and we are in a biology laboratory with an obnoxious partner, then it's changing very much and I would put it far away from Twilgiht and the writing style of Stephanie Meyer. Personally, it is much much better.

It's a pretty dark book, full of action, mystery and tension. On the one hand you had the peculiar relationship of Patch and Nora, from the other mystery of assassination attempts to Nora. Along with the Patch appear and others with fairly dark past and form. The best thing is that the book is not predictable. It is very difficult nowadays to find something really authentic and i believe that hush, hush accomplishes that part. Every 50 pages approximately when you think you have a conclusion to what is happening, something will happen and will change your mind again, but not in a way to be confused or tired with it. The characters are fairly comprehensive, and persons who remind you of people from your environment. Bad girls, cute guys and of course the bad guys who you really want to avoid or afraid. Of course there is an intense love story but is written beautifully next of all the facts and the history of characters without be too much. I believe it can be read easily enough from boys as well. Something might be worth to point out is that at some points (rather dark) were both well written and descriptive that scared me with the result of the scene to stayed on my mind for good. I think should begin to watch out the evening in the street. Also, something that really surprised me, is the fact that all the characters are used in the story with none of the mentioned people to staying out. Every single person which was mentioned has a role to play. Something that i can't remember if i have seen it in another books.

If the books loses somewhere, then it is that missing information on angels. Apart from a posting a page that is supposed Nora would find, we did not learn much about them, although some conclusions are easy to get out.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and I am especially glad that I chose it. The preview chapter of the next book which was included at the end, has made me want it even more since it appears that Patch has even more mysteries around him than you can imagine.
