Movie Review: My Week With Marilyn

In the early summer of 1956, 23 year-old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), just down from Oxford and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’. The film that famously united Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams), who was also on honeymoon with her new husband, the playwright Aurthur Miller (Dougray Scott).

Nearly 40 years on, his diary account The Prince, the Showgirl and Me was published, but one week was missing and this was published some years later as My Week with Marilyn – this is the story of that week. When Arthur Miller leaves England, the coast is clear for Colin to introduce Marilyn to some of the pleasures of British life; an idyllic week in which he escorted a Monroe desperate to get away from her retinue of Hollywood hangers-on and the pressures of work.

REVIEW:
My Week With Marilyn is a movie, i mainly wanted to watch for Emma Watson. The thing is i decided to watch the movie, a day after i watched J.Edgar which was a "based on real person" movie as well, and i really didn't like. So my hopes and mood weren't the best ones, for this one too. BUT, i fell in love with it.

It is one of the few times, i agree with the critics about a movie. It was indeed really good. It managed to show you a part of Marilyn's Monroe life without make you bore with it but the opposite. I believe big part of that, was the actors and the acting in general. Not only, the cast felt right but they were amazing. Michelle Williams made me believe she was Marilyn. Her expressions, the way she talked, the way she posed. It was terrific. Note, that each and every actor were that good. I've seen most of them in other movies, and the fact that they made me totally forget their previous roles means how well done were connected with their characters. As for Emma Watson, who i mentioned at start, she had a really small part in the movie, which stayed in mind anyway. She was the girl against Monroe for the boy.

Plus, the cinematography, the music, the direction were so well cared. It was magical. The whole enviromment drew you in, and you were totally forgetting where you really were. It made me, have my attention to the movie only and nothing else.

My Week With Marilyn was not only good for me, but i can watch it more than once too (which i don't really do with movies on famous people). You get to learn a small part of Marilyn's life ( most of those things seem true if you check around about her ), without feeling like you are watching a simple documentary.
