Movie Review: Captain America ( The First Avenger )

Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the ‘Super-Soldier Serum’ and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’ Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers.

REVIEW:
So if you follow at twitter, you already know that last night we all got together to see Captain America + it was Johnny's first cinema movie after he got back in Greece! It was one awesome day ^^

NOTE: The review is not for the 3D version. I have never read the comics so i don't know how accurate to the story it is.

I think Captain America is more of an introduction movie for both the Avengers and Captain America as a character. I have to admit that i liked the fact they didn't rush it to get in the main action, but took their time before Rogers actually became the Captain America. It was also nice to see, after Green Lantern, that the movie was not around the romance with the girl (thank god!).
Know, even as a story and flow was really good it had some moments were you grinned, like how there is always one asian, one black guy on each movie out there, no matter if they fit the roles or the parts of the story. But in general i really liked what i was watching. It had its calm moments, its action and he funny ones.

There were also many known actors in the movie. With Chris Evans doing an amazing job as Captain America. For some reason playing the good boy instead of the girls guy, he was in Fantastic Four, suit him more and i think it was one of his good movies. Tommy Lee Jones was different and it was nice to see him in something after a really long time. I think the last movie i saw with him was Men In Black II. And another big name that i was happy to see, was Hugo Weaving! For some reason i love that guy no matter if he is the good or the bad in the movie. He just has something and he is always so good in his roles.

The music was not my style but definitely fitted the movie. And for another time, congrats to the special effects team for doing such an amazing job! That aspect was better than Green Lantern as well but there was no doubt on that. Marvel Studios never has problem with their special effects.

If you are into superhero movies, Captain America totally worth your time. It's a bit more serious than the rest of the superhero movies though. But still really good! For some reason it felt like a really good adaption of the comics.

P.S: Yay for an even more awesome Thor at the Avengers trailer at the end of the movie. Woot woot!

Cast: Chris Evans ( Fantastic Four ), Hayley Atwell ( The Duchess ), Sebastian Stan ( Black Swan),  Tommy Lee Jones (Men In Black), Hugo Weaving ( Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Matrix Trilogy), Dominic Cooper (The Duchess), Stanley Tucci (The Devils Wears Prada), Samuel L. 2. first I have to say that I liked Green Landern more than this, maybe because I am more into space than world war II.
Also in the trailer of the avengers Thor was a bit like "they took my icecream" when he was looking on the floor and the one eyed dude was talking XD

  4. i didn't like it at all..i found it very boring (it took me 3 times t finish watching it, i stoped it all the time). the performances and the special effects were very good, but i didn't like the story at all.. also the end was very bad..it should have ended when they showed the kids running and playing..the whole movie didn't make sense to me..as for the girl, she was so cold and the love story between them was just nothing special, there was no connection, no passion...
