Games/Books that SHOULD be movie! #10: Old Magic

His name is Jarrod Thomton. He has blond-red hair to his shoulders, nice skin and green eyes like fiery emeralds; but this is not why I can't drug my eyes of him. There's something else. Something disturbing....
Kate is at a loss. She meets a boy with extraordinary powers and a bizarre family history that can be traced back to the Middle Ages. But Jarrod doesn't believe in the paranormal. When Kate tries to convince him that he has supernatural powers that need to be hamessed, he doesn't take her seriously, and only puts up with her "hocus pocus" notions he finds her captivating.
However, the dangerous, uncontrolled strengthening of his gift finally convinces Jarrod that he must take Kate's theories seriously. Together, they emback on a remarkable journey-one which will unravel the mustery that has hung over Jarrod's family for generations and finds them pitted against immence forces in a battle to undo the past and reshape the future.

Why It Should Be A Movie: Well, it has a great plot and it's a shame to go wasted. It doesn't have vampires or other weird creatures, except a shape-shifter, but he's the bad guy and he is actually a wizard. The book descrides only pure magic and some element control which are the most common things you can find in other books or films. Also, there is a time travelling and I am very curious about the dresses and the castles. Last but not least, the village where the two main characters live. As the book says, Kate leaves somewhere in the forest and there is a cafe where all kids hang out which has an exraordinary decoration.

Cast: There are not all of them here, but I'll tell you why I picked them.

Kate: Alexis Bledel (the first actress that popped into my head when I read how Kate looks like)

Jarrod: Rupert Grint (he is exactly the same the book says)

Jillian: Helen Miller (she looks great for it)

Lord Richard: Henry Cavill (he is not that old, but he played a Middle Age role before and he looks perfect)

Isabel: Joely Richardson (a little bit younger, would be great, but she has the appropriate attitude)

Rhank: Adrien Brody (the guy supposed to transform into a hawk, and he looks like one, with the nice meaning, of course)

That's it people. If you want you can check out the review about Old Magic, the book somewhere in this blog. If you agree with me or not, please let me know. Oh! By the way, this is the first Should Be movie I write.

  1. I read this book a couple of years ago, when I was a teenager. I loved it and it took me a long time to find it again!

  2. Someday I will read this book. I've taken it out from the library twice, but still haven't gotten around to read it.

I like this feature you're doing. I look forward to seeing your other picks.
