The Twilight Saga (1 - 3) : Review

Bella Swan has always been a little bit different. Never one to run with the crowd, Bella never cared about fitting in with the trendy, plastic girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarried and Bella chooses to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she didn't expect much of anything to change. But things do change when she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen. For Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met. He's nothing like anyone she's ever met, period. He's intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance - unorthodox because Edward really isn't like the other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. He can stop a moving car with his bare hands. Oh, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he's immortal...
REVIEW:
I think it's time to make a review for twilight. If you are waiting for a good one I’m going to disappoint you, i saw all the movies so I’m gonna make a review for all of them together. I have to say that i watched the movies now by choice. I didn't wanna watch them when everyone was so crazy about twilight. Anyway, I start watching the first movie and i'm waiting...i'm waiting....i'm waiting...i'm still waiting for action to begin. It was so slow, I was so bored, I had higher expectations for the movies and I was really disappointed. I don't have much experience in vampire fiction but vampires that glow in the sun? Isn't it a little off?? And also they don't even have fangs, what's up with that??Apart from that the make up was awful, they made Robert Pattinson look so ugly, the white skin with those eyes, it was disgusting. The only thing I liked was the scenery, the place the movie was made is so beautiful. My favorite character is of course Jacob. In all the films I was wishing she would leave Edward , to be with Jacob. About the second film now.. well all the movie was about Bella being sad. I liked the fact that Jacob was more involved in this one, also I liked the “story” with the wolfs. I don't have much to say about this one too, very mediocre. Finally the third movie was a little better than the previous. It wasn't that slow, it had more action, generally it was more satisfying. I liked the scene were Belle is in the tent with Edward and she is freezing cold and then Jacob comes in with no t-shirt like its a 100 degrees and he worms her, the dialog between E & J in this point was very nice. To sum up, I was disappointed by the films, I was waiting much more. I can't say that I recommend it, there are many other films to watch !

  1. I agree with everything that you pointed out. It had good soundtrack though XD I will admit at first i really liked it, but as the time passed i my mind was more clear and i saw how wrong i was..

And i strongly believe that the next will be the worse. The next book is the worse for me as well. I can't believe they will split it in two, like is Harry Potter...pfff...

  2. *pats* Vampires are corpses. They're supposed to look like one. So, I guess they succeeded then? I've only watched the first 2 movies. They were hilarious! (read:awful) I'm going to read the first 2 books this Christmas break, so... wish me luck? :D

  3. Vampires are undead true about what you say Mithee, they do look pale but not as white as Edward in the movies. It was plain...ubly! Not to mention the fact that vampires are dark-hedonist-sadistic and really REALLY brutal. I mean yeah sure vegetarian vampires that eat animals sounds good, but hey...sparkle in the sun? Emo crap by a vampire? vampires go to high school? what the hell? Thumbs up Athanasia!

  4. Just so I can be clean, I love Twilight. I like the books and the movies and pretty much everything of it. I'm not saying I do not have complains, but in the majority, I love it.
And I honestly do not even care that they change the entire myth of vampires....
Sorry for mention it under your post Athanasia....

  5. @nina: your opinion is respected but my issues lie within the role models twilight give and her view of "romantic". Personally i find them a bit disturbing. And the fact that they changed the myth is a big deal. Mythology tells more about the soul of a people and their time than history itself. They are incarnations of their darkest desires, their fears, their beliefs, even the little things they crave in secret. Dont take myth alteration lightly, that is my opinion off course, objections and dissagreements are respected and welcomed....

P.S we should take this discussion elsewhere :P sorry Anastasia! please dont hate me...much :P

  10. What a shame you didn't enjoy them. l loved all of them but it's refreshing to read a review which is a bit more critical.
How do the pictures of the DVD's make them look ugly when they are all handsome/pretty?

  11. Maybe those who have already read the book will find it disappointed , but i always admired how the 1st movie was been film , i like the blue-ish feel of Fork , i thought the 2nd movie shouldn't be brownish but same as the 1st one , should more dark and blue-ish coz about Edward leaving Bella , i like the scene in every movie intro when Bella narrated those line , 2nd one when i was watch it again , i find it to be quite boring , 3rd one is quite exciting , althought movie version it change many thing , if twilight was a series in a 1st place i think it would be sactified but would disappointed some ppl as well , coz adapted version will change a lot of thing , so far 1st movie is my favourite
