About: A psychological thriller that tells the story of a man (Hayden Christensen) who suffers "anesthetic awareness" and finds himself awake and aware, but paralyzed, during heart surgery. His young wife (Jessica Alba) must wrestle with her own demons as a drama unfolds around them.
Review: While I was browsing through same videos in youtube I came across a trailer of a movie called “Awake”. I was immediately sure that I was going to like it because of an aspect only, it involved "anesthetic awareness".
To begin with, when you start to watch this movie you like certain people, as the story evolves the people you like change, but that phenomenon continues to end of the movie. The plot is really surprising and unexpected, the viewer learns the secrets the same time the lead actor does which is very exiting.
This movie is breathtaking, the lead actor goes into surgery but he can hear and feel everything but he is unable to move or talk, this is called "anesthetic awareness" and it is a real condition. There are not much I can say about the plot without giving up the end, but I have to say that it is full of surprises, it keeps you constantly “awake”.
All the actors were good at their performances, Jessica Alba was very interesting because we see two sides of her character, but the most amazing performance was by Lena Olin, the mother.
To sum up this is a very good movie, but it deals with some sensitive stuff like sickness, death, betrayal so it is not a fun movie but also not a very dark one. I definitely recommend it though.
