Your Highness, Movie Review

Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world-Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancĂ©e before their kingdom is destroyed.

REVIEW:
Let's make it clear that i hate movies with sex jokes and full of bad language, etc. From the trailer i knew the movie had them in but i didn't expect to be so many. 9 to 10 lines are naughty jokes about sex, penis, vagina and whatever else exist.

There is a great storyline and it could have made a great epic adventure. To tell the truth i was expecting something like Knight's Tale ( i haven't watched any of the other movies from those writers/director like Pineapple Express). But all the story was hidden behind those jokes which i didn't even find funny enough to laugh. I almost got sad about it. The cinematography, the music, the special effects are so great! So well done that i had time to see that kind of budget in an epic quest movie. And i couldn't get into it. When i didn't find the dialogues stupid, i noticed how poor job was done from such great actors.
James Franco was trying to keep his smiles in, because he wanted to laugh with the jokes and stuff and you could see it. Which i can't say i found it cute and funny like i've seen in other reviews.

The movie is not bad. It can easily get a 6-7+/10 from someone who will like it. But for certain it's not for everyone. There are chances to keep up and watch the whole thing since it has an interesting story, but you might find annoying things i mentioned above if it's not your style. For me was a waste of time, money and a great cast.

Cast: Danny McBride (Pineapple Express), James Franco (Spiderman, 127 hours), Natalie Portman (Star Wars, Black Swan), Toby Jones (Harry Potter 2, The Mist), Justin Theroux (Megamind), Zooey Deschanel (Yes Man, 500 Days of Summer),  Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Damian Lewis (Dreamcatcher), Deobia Oparei ( Doom,Moulin Rouge )

  2. I want to see this one...Well, everyone said it's a parody and that's why the bad language, etc....

  3. @Silvestro : hope you like it more than me

@nina: parodies don't necessarily have bad language.

  4. That's so disappointing to hear! I don't like that kind of humor either, and while I knew it would be there from the trailer, I was hoping it wouldn't be so much. It's especially disappointing to hear this given that you said the rest of the plot/effects were really good and that's so rare with fantasies.

  5. i didn't find that the trailer had bad language at all, i am usually bored with this kind of movies (knights and stuff) but this one sounds "modern".

i think i will watch it and then come back to you ;)

  6. I watched the movie and it is true that the humour is crude and at some points it was too much even for me but in general I had fun with the movie, I wouldn't recomend it to girls though, don't take it wrong but it has some crude sex jokes that most girls wouldn't like...

  7. @silvestro: that is so sexist, girls enjoy crude sex jokes too

  8. Athanasia: There are girls that feel offended with jokes like these, not me though....I think Silvestro was trying to warn them....

  9. @nina: it is not right to say girls, you and silvestro should have said PEOPLE ! of course there are girls who don't like this kind of humor but there are boys too, it is not correct to just say girls or boys because there are both, so say PEOPLE.

  10. @athanasia: have you looked at the statistics ? there are way more girls being offended by those jokes than boys. And stop saying sexist in every chance, I was just following the math ;)

  11. @silvestro: it is the second or third time i said it XD

  12. @athanasia: i don't find it sexist either. 95% of the time is the girls that will have problem with that kind of language. i would have said girls too :P

  13. @Athanasia, sexism is when you separate women from men in an unfair way.Saying that men like sports and women like shoping is NOT sexism. Saying that women should stay in home and men can do what they want IS sexism.

As for the movie, I loved it. I agree with Silvestro and I think that Yiota's review does not give the movie the appropriate review. It has crude jokes, its definitively a movie that targets more of the male audience since it has a lot of sex jokes. I agree that the trophy was a bit excessive Silvestro but other than that I found it hillarious. The way they combined old speach with modern cursing and talk was just hilarious

Spoiler Quote: "And I am here to take her back"
"And How exactly will you do that?"
    "Magic.....motherfucker"

  14. @Johnny: this quote may be my favorite one from the whole movie *lmao*

  15. @Johnny: why is not okay? I mean i didn't like it, and i explained exactly why i didn't. And i couldn't find it hilarious because i was to busy to forget the images their jokes created in my mind:P
And i did mention that people that would not have problem with the things i had, they will probably enjoy it.

  16. @Yiota you should have mentioned to one of us to do the review. Because now everyone will think it sucks and you just say those things to be polite. Plus I am too bored to write a positive one so there. I did not say it was a wrong review i just say you dont do the movie credit.

  17. @Johnny: from my POV i do it credit because that's what i saw in it. People who follow us know that i don't say good words just to say. I'm bashing things all the time. And oh well, they should read the comments. You don't go anywhere with just one opinion.

  19. i saw the movie and it was ok, it had many crude jokes but it didn't bother me at all, i found it funny. the plot was nothing special and it was a poor made movie, if it hadn't the sex jokes it would be so boring, my favorite scene was the last "i was just about finish thinking of you" XD

  20. i forgot XD James Franco was great in this movie too !

  21. @Athanasia, damn you really need to start watching fantasy movies...seriously this movie was epically funny just because of the things it parodied that you see in fantasy movies.

spoiler quote: the scene when i dont remember who, was wielding the sword and doing epic "exercises" on top of the hill which is more or less in EVERY fantasy movie at some point, and then he CONTINUES to do them with the exact same way but with a different backround.
