About: Robert Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective to life as he has never been portrayed before. Jude Law stars as Holmes' trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes. Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective. Mark Strong stars as their mysterious new adversary, Blackwood. In 1891 London, famous consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner Dr. John Watson race to prevent the ritual murder of a girl by Lord Geoffrey Blackwood (Mark Strong), who has killed five other young women similarly. They stop the murder before Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan) and the police arrive to arrest Blackwood. Three months later, a bored Holmes' eccentric behavior again annoys Watson, his roommate. While he enjoys their adventures together, Watson looks forward to marrying Mary Morstan and leaving 221B Baker Street. Blackwood is sentenced to death and requests to see Holmes in prison, where he warns of three more impending deaths that will cause great changes to the world. Blackwood is subsequently hanged and pronounced dead by Watson. Three days later, Holmes is visited by Irene Adler, a professional thief and his former adversary, who asks him to find a missing man named Reordan. read more
Since this movie aired I always wanted to watch it, but I only got the chance to do it last week. As you may know Guy Ritchie is the director of the film, and I admit it that he did a great job even thought I didn't believe in him that much. I really liked this version of Sherlock Holmes, the actor they chose for the role (Robert Downey, Jr.) was excellent. I really liked the way he played the legendary detective. I also enjoyed Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) and Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams) although I think Rachel McAdams was a little bit too young for the role, because of her history with Sherlock. The film was definitely fun to watch the story was very interesting, the costumes were great, the actors were very good in their roles and for their roles! It's a very funny film too, I laughed in many scenes but I also had agony and it left me with a warm feeling. The graphics are good, I like how they show London. Finally, I recommend it to all of you, it's one of those films that you have to watch.. Hope you like it..

I still haven't seen that movie and it has been resting in my hard-disk for months... oops I meant the DVD (ofcourse!). I guess I should get to it and watch it this coming weekend. It feels as good a recommendation as any!

ReplyDeleteWell Sherlock Holmes, never was much of a fighter as in the movie but i liked it! It's a good action-adventure one!
I liked the movie too . Enjoyable movie but of course, I prefer the books :)
ReplyDeleteIt reminded my of Van Helsing... But Robert Downey Jr. is soooooo better than Hugh Jackman...
ReplyDeleteI think it's a movie to watch at home on DVD rather than the cinema...
