In The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Denzel Washington stars
as New York City subway dispatcher Walter Garber, whose ordinary day is
thrown into chaos by an audacious crime: the hijacking of a subway
train. John Travolta stars as Ryder, the criminal mastermind who, as
leader of a highly-armed gang of four, threatens to execute the train's
passengers unless a large ransom is paid within one hour. As the tension
mounts beneath his feet, Garber employs his vast knowledge of the
subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder and save the hostages. But
there's one riddle Garber can't solve: even if the thieves get the
money, how can they possibly escape?
REVIEW:
Not big fan of the movie. I really liked the story and everything but i had problem with the acting. Both Denzel Washington and John Travolta, felt like they didn't enjoyed their roles. Especially Travolta. The role wasn't for him. All this big mouth and i'm badass style, seemed fake and he didn't convince me. Washington was much better but his connection with Travolta didn't show up. Mixed feelings about it.
World-premiering at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. What’s
a 16-year-old boy doing playing music and table tennis with adult
psychiatric patients – on a school day? It’s kind of a funny story…“It’s
Kind of a Funny Story,” adapted from Ned Vizzini’s 2006 novel of the
same name, is the new comedy-drama from acclaimed writer/directors Ryan
Fleck & Anna Boden. It’s @5:00 AM on a Sunday in Brooklyn. Craig
Gilner (played by Keir Gilchrist of “United States of Tara”) is
bicycling up to the entrance of a mental health clinic; this bright
16-year-old is stressed out from the demands of being a teenager. Before
his parents (Lauren Graham [of “Parenthood”] and Jim Gaffigan [of “Away
We Go”]) and younger sister are even awake, Craig checks himself into
Argenon Hospital and is admitted by a psychiatrist. But the youth ward
is temporarily closed – so he finds himself stuck in the adult ward. One
of the patients, Bobby (Zach Galifianakis of “The Hangover”), soon
becomes both Craig’s mentor and protégé. Craig is also quickly drawn to
another 16-year-old displaced to the adult ward, the sensitive Noelle
(Emma Roberts of the upcoming “Scream 4’), who just might make him
forget his longtime unrequited crush Nia (Zoë Kravitz of the upcoming
“Mad Max”). With a minimum five days’ stay imposed on him by the adult
ward’s staff psychiatrist Dr. Eden Minerva (Academy Award nominee Viola
Davis), Craig is sustained by friendships on both the inside and the
outside as he learns more about life, love, and the pressures of growing
up.
REVIEW:
That's more of a drama than a comedy. And it's also a really slow movie..like sllloooooowwww. Except that was pretty much okay. I really liked how Craig was to open to learn from the people around him and how he helped everyone with their problems. How the people in the mental health clinic has created their own world and families. The whole situation where i saw how it was working was really nice. The whole movie was really well done, from acting, producing and everything. As i said the only bad things about it, was how slow was it. It made it boring. And i didn't laugh at all :p
I never intented to watch "The Taking of Pelham 123" but i'm sad about "It's Kind of A Funny Story", i really liked the title XD
ReplyDeletei actually saw "It's Kind of A Funny Story" and i really liked it, all the actors were very good and i didn't find it slow at all, it wasn't funny but it had funny moments.
