dinner for schumcks & death race 2 reviews

That's two to one people! As you can see to our schedule we have a hell of reviews to do. At least, i do. And there are more that coming each day (think that i read one book each day and watch one movie). So we need to get this thing moving. Two of the movies i watched recently, really don't deserve their own posts...

Dinner for Schmucks tells the story of Tim (Paul Rudd), a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss' annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry (Steve Carell), a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art. From Jay Roach, director of Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers comes an unforgettable feast about two unlikely friends and one very memorable dinner.
REVIEW:Great actors. Epic fail movie. Yes, it can happen. That thing it supposed to be a comedy. To tell you the truth i was bored like hell. The only good thing about was the last 15 mins or so. It was stupid, and i didn't like the whole idea of it. Plus, i barely laughed. What i can say...maybe i was in a bad mood? Looks like to me that Carell-Rudd-Galifianakis don't work that good as a team. Something like 6/10.

Death Race 2 takes place in the very near future, as the United States economy begins to decline and violent crime starts to spiral out of control. To contain the growing criminal population, a vast network of for-profit, private prisons springs up, creating a lawless subculture ruled by gangs, cold-blooded killers and sociopaths. The worst of these prisons is Terminal Island. Convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas arrives on the Island to serve his life sentence just as ruthlessly ambitious television personality September Jones launches the ultimate reality show, Death Race. A brutal prison yard demolition derby that pits prisoners against each other in steel reinforced, heavily armed vehicles, Death Race offers the winner the ultimate prize: freedom - if he can survive to enjoy it. When Lucas signs up to be a driver, the stage is set for the birth of a legendary racer.
REVIEW: I should have know from the trailer how bad that was....But i had my hopes up, since i loved Death Race. Yeah...acting sucked, battle scenes sucked, choices of actors sucked. They have Luke Goss (the guy in the poster) trying to play a la Jason Statham in a really bad bad way! Get over it man, you are not him. Did they really though they can fool us? Another dissapointment was Sean Bean...oh my..why he had to play in this one. Such a tragic acting. The role wasn't fitting to him. Only the last 10 mins are wow and really making you to wanna watch Death Race! The only decent acting was done by Danny Trejo and imagine that i freaking hate him...:S Ermmm...5/10?

  5. The actor playing Carl Lukas did a great job, i enjoyed DR2 ,the film is what it is and I thought a really good lead into DR I dont think the filmakers where trying to fool anyone into believing the guy on the DVD cover was Chev Chelios opps wrong movie, I mean Jason Statham

  6. @anonymous: maybe you didn't get what i was saying. maybe i didn't explain it well either.

i didn't mean that i thought Luke Goss was Jason Statham.I knew that from the very start. But in the whole movie, they did copy Statham's style. You can't deny it. And i talked about it with other friends, who are boys just in case it was my girl stupitity and they had the same opinion. Like they were trying to replace him from the first (though it was a complete different role).
Except that, the acting was poor. Like they were just saying some lines, just to say them. It was not believable at all. I love watching movies with cars and actions but let's just not forget that is a movie, not a cars show or whatever.
After Death Race, it is normal to have great expectations from a sequel or a prequel.
I LOVED DR, but DR2 was poorly done. They didn't pay attention to it. And with the actors they had, they would have done a much better job.

I'm not a professional reviewer, none of us here are. That's our opinion and only.

  9. Thanks for your comments , I really don't think that Luke Goss acts or looks like Stath, , yes I know the both have shaved heads lol...they have very different styles to be honest I like Statham but I do think Luke Goss is a much better actor .. more versatile , he was great in Blade 2 Hellboy 2 and now DR2 and that is just my opinion.
    Thanks Lee

  10. @anonymous: Oh, you told us your name. Hi Lee!
Hmmm..i don't think Goss is like that in all his movies. Just in this one.He was great at Witchville, Tekken and i really loved him at Hellboy2! (I don't remember him at Blade 2 though :p )
And i think it's filmmakers fault. They told him what to do.I never said he tried to copy Statham. They filmakers tried to do that, so we don't feel his absence from the previous DR.

@Misha: yeah, you better watch something else. there are many comedies out there. and thanks :)
