The Southern Vampire Mysteries: Living Dead In Dallas, Review

Sookie Stackhouse likes living in Bon Temps, Louisiana, and she likes working as a cocktail waitress at Merlotte's. But she is having a streak of bad luck. First her co-worker is killed, and no one seems to care. Then she comes face-to-face with a beastly creature which gives her a painful and poisonous lashing. Enter the vampires, who graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it).
The point is the vampires saved her life. So when one of the bloodsuckers asks for a favour, she obliges-and soon Sookie's in Dallas, using her telephathic skills to search for a missing vampire. She's supposed to interview certain humans involved, but she makes one condition: the vampires must promise to behave, and let the humans go unharmed. But that's easier said than done, and all it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn badly.

REVIEW:
This is the second book of the Southern Vampire Mysteries or Sookie Stackhouse novels or simpler and most known True Blood. As always we follow Sookie's point of view. Her romance with Bill who's a vampire and the danger this relationship encourages. Well, I'm not going to say anything more about the story, so I'll start with the review.

For those that have already seen the second season, which the second book insired, prepare yourselves for what you are going to hear. I can count the events and the moments that are exactly the same in both, on the fingers of my one hand. I mean it. There are so many differences between the second book and the second season. On the one hand, I can totally get it. Sookie leaves for Dallas, so she knows nothing of what is going on in Bon Temps. On the other hand, they had fabricated so many things to keep all the characters in the show, that after reading the book, I was pissed off with the scriptwriters.

For those that prefer the books more than the show, I found it really interesting. You get to know more stuff about the leadership the vampires have, the way they leave in bigger cities and the conviniences the people offer them. Also, somewhere in the end, you learn more things about Bill's family and the life he had when he was a human.

One of the things I didn't like was about Sookie. There are sometimes in the book where she overreacted about something Bill's done, which is ridiculous, because those things are vampire stuff. Also, she never asks questions. Ok, Bill's not that old, but he had leaved so many things in other periods of times, that you cannot be curious about them.

Bottom on, I found it really good. If you have read the first one you have to try this one too. I enjoyed it and liked it as much as the first.
