New York's intense street dancing underground comes alive in eye-popping
Digital 3D in the third installment of the "Step Up" franchise as the
raw, passion-fueled culture goes global. A tight-knit group of street
dancers, including Luke (Rick Malambri) and Natalie (Sharni Vinson),
team up with NYU freshman Moose (Adam Sevani), and find themselves
pitted against the world's best breakdancers in a high-stakes showdown
that will change their lives forever.
REVIEW:
I would say it from the start. With scale 1-10 the movie was 5 for me.

I have watched all Step Up movies and i loved them. But from the trailer of this one, i was sure it couldn't be as good as the previous movies. For starters the story was empty and predictable. The old ones had more tension and something more in them. Here i thought they put a story up, just to get a new movie out. After that we have the acting which wasn't even good. The two main actors are losing it and they don't pass their emotions to you. It's like they just saying some lines. Maybe that was why the story wasn't good enough. Of course, we had Adam Sevani (also known as Moose) who thanks god saved the movie. His acting was the best in the whole thing. Same for his dancing. I was happy he had bigger part than at Step Up 2. Also, don't expect the two main actors (you know from the poster) to dance. They barely dance and they mostly at the back of all the other dancers.
The dancing is good but not as good as the previous movies. Again they use water for a choreography. Except the last choreography, the others are not so special. I don't believe they should have win the battles at all. Lol.. And i didn't like the music so much as well :/ I have seen once again dance battles at You Got Served movie so i found the whole setting of this one, just not good enough for me.
I completely agree with your sentiment. This part was disappointing compared to the other 2 parts.
ReplyDeleteGood to see i'm not the only one feeling this way.
ReplyDeleteNice honest review. I figured it wouldn't be as good as the first Step Up. :P
ReplyDeleteWe always have the next one! I think it will be released at 2012.
ReplyDeleteWell I saw it last night and to be honest I agree that it was not that good... I personally think it was better than the second one but the first one was the best...I loved the soundtrack of this movie and the choreography was really good(the part with the water wasn't that good but in the first fight with the "robodude" was "WOW"!!!)...
ReplyDeleteThe story is just something to explain all the dancing, the people in this movie are firstly dancers and secondly actors but this didn't bother me...
Solid 5 from me too...
for the record i have seen all Step Up movies and i see a lot of dance movies too and i used to danse
ReplyDeletethis movie was amazing! i am not going to compare it with the other Step Up movies
the music was great, most of the choreographies were great, i loved the one at the end and the one with the water, i don't think they should have lost at all the battles just the first, those guys were amazing...
as for the acting i agree with Choqm@n that they are first dancers and then actors and for me the main actor was Moose, who i loved, he was funny, he is a great dancer and he did a great acting job..
the story is not empty it has DANCE, you watche a movie like that for DANSE not for a strong senario...
yiota i can't belive you felt that way, after i finished it i was feeling so great, i wanted to dance, i wanted to call my old team and ask them to meet again!! LOL it was inspiring...
to sum up it is a 8.5/10 for me
