True Blood Review

About: The series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people's minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the Vampire Bill, walks into her place of employment two years after vampires 'came out of the coffin' on national television.

The main mystery of the first season concerns the murders of women connected to Sookie's brother, Jason . Also the first season focuses on Sookie's relationship with Bill and Sam's relationship with Sookie's friend Tara. I started watching True blood without really liking it, I thought it was TOO much for me, all that blood, all that scenes that scared me, but as I continued to watch I realized that true blood is actually funny in a twisted way! At the end of the season it is revealed that Arlene Fowler's fiancé, Rene Lenier, is actually a man named Drew Marshall who has created a false identity. He has been killing women he considers "fang-bangers". The season ends with the discovery of a body in Detective Andy Bellefleur's car in Merlotte's parking lot.

The second season is actually my favorite, it focuses on the disappearance of the 2,000-year old vampire Sheriff of Area 9, Godric who is Eric’s maker, that's why he enlists Sookie and Bill's aid in finding the ancient vampire in Dallas. Also Sookie’s brother Jason seeks to discover meaning in his life with the Fellowship of the Sun, a church dedicated to anti-vampire activities. It's a very strong season that keeps you in edge all the way. Last but not least a maenad named Maryann visits Bon Temps and takes under her protection Tara with false pretences. She is a figure from Sam's past and knows his true identity as a shape shifter. Maryann has a big influence on the town and its residents, but at the end in a very strong episode Sam kills Maryann. At the last episode Bill proposes to Sookie, but is kidnapped by unknown assailants when Sookie retreats to the bathroom to consider his proposal.

The third season finds Sookie teaming up with a werewolf named Alcide in Mississippi in order to track down Bill, who has been kidnapped and is being held hostage by a vampire King. It also introduces the characters of Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, and his private investigator, Franklin Mott who falls in love with Tara and kidnaps her, also Crystal Norris is Jason's new girlfriend, she came’s from a family of were panthers from Hotshot. In this season apparently there were not enough magical creatures so we find out that Sookie had a fairy godmother, Claudine. Sookie's heritage as part fairy is also revealed later in the season. In only 12 episodes we find out that Russell Edgington killed Eric's parents and that's why Eric tries to kill him. At the last episode Bill and Eric bury Russell alive in cement, then Bill turns the tables on Eric and tries to kill him by doing the same thing. Eric escapes and tells Sookie that Bill was originally sent to Bon Temps to procure her for Sophie-Anne and that he purposely allowed the Rattrays to beat her nearly to death so that he would be able to feed her his blood. Bill vowed to kill anyone who knows about Sookie's fairy heritage and he invites Sophie-Anne to his home for a fight to the death. At the end of the season Sookie visits Gran's grave where she is joined by Claudine and other fairies and transported to their world. My favorite part of this season is when Sookie kills Lorena !

To sum up True Blood is a series for Vampires. It is true that in the last season they overdone it with the werepanthers, the werewolfs and Sookie being a fairy but it was very interesting and it made you stuck! On June 21, 2010, HBO renewed True Blood for a fourth season, to debut in summer 2011, let’s hope it continues to be interesting and without more magical creatures !!

  6. I love True Blood and am about halfway through Season 2. They do do all that with the fairies and werepanthers in the books, although I think the series (if going by Season 1 & 2) have been changed a bit. Both are really enjoyable in their own right though :)

  7. I am a huuuuggeee fan!!! and I so agree with you season 2 was incredibly good!

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed with Season 3, maybe also because I've read the books and expected a bit more Eric/Sookie. I have high hopes for Season 4...
