In this contemporary re-imagining of Jonathan Swift's classic tale,
Lemuel Gulliver is a perpetual underachiever and wannabe travel writer
at a New York newspaper. When he finally makes an effort to actually
venture out of the city to write a travel piece, a storm-tossed voyage
lands him on an island inhabited by tiny folks called Liliputians. After
a rocky beginning, the gargantuan Gulliver becomes an inspiration to
his new six-inch-tall friends. He brings them modern-day wonders like a
PDA and music video games - while they help him learn that it's how big
you are on the inside that counts.
REVIEW:
Well let's face it, from the trailer and only looked like the movie might not even deserve a watch. I did gave it a chance though, since i really like Jack Black.
And while it was mostly poor done, with not much effort into the acting and something that looked like a really fast-done script, it really had some fun parts. It was enjoyable and funny. I guess the people will like it more are the ones who haven't really watch many comedies, Jack Black before or they are young. It was a really clever idea though.
I was also surprised that they promoted Jack Black in this movie so much that the others actors fall behind even though they were some big names in like: Emily Blunt (The Wolfman, The Devil Wear Prada), Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Despicable Me) and Billy Conelly (The Last Samurai, Lemony Snicket).
Overall i did have a good time watching it. I actually laughed a lot and i felt it ended fast but still it was missing some magic. Oh! And i didn't watch it in 3D so i don't how good it was like that.
