Priest, Movie Review

A warrior priest from the last Vampire War now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, the priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece's boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former warrior priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.

REVIEW:
Not.Good.Enough.

That's how i would described the movie. I didn't even manage to watch it til the end.

The movie starts with a scene from the vampire war and then an anime summary of what happened with the priests and the vampires. Later you see an attack and meet the dystopian world where the movie is placed.

As far as i watched, both acting and plot were weak to bad. I've seen all those actors before and they could do better. The directors is based clearly on special effects and actions. Even though i got bored with it. While the world and the idea with the futuristic vampires is good, the failed to make me interest in it.
And i was even more surprised on how many big actors where in! At the first 4 mins i had already seen about 5-6 "big" names. I watched about 20 mins of it. I stopped when Brad Dourif appears who i know him for his role as Grimma at Lord Of The Rings. His appearance and even his character was so much the same as LOTR that i was "enough of my time spent on this".

I can't say i recommend it. Expect you don't really care about a serious action movie.

Cast: Paul Bettany (Knight's Tale, Da Vinci Code), Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings), Cam Giganet (Twilight), Maggie Q (Nikita), Lilly Collins (soon to be at Mortal Instruments), Brad Dourif (Lord Of The Rings), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Christopher Plummer (Up, The Sound of Music)

  4. i watched the whole movie, it wasn't that big anyway only 1:16, i can't say i liked the movie but it wasn't a total waste of time either.

the acting was poor, i knew some of the actors but not all of them.

the idea of the vampires was bad, there were vampires, vampire guards, vampire queen, familiars and a human-vampire :S

the special effects were good but i didn't understand why all the people were dirty XD

what i loved were the motorcycles, they were awesome !!!

  5. How could you see just the first 20 min?? I was captured from the beginning....The whole stempunk theme was really good....Yes, I agree that the vampires weren't exactly vampires but monsters, but I wasn't paying attention to all these, the effects were really good too....

Athanasia: The people were dirty because of the style....Steampunk is when you leave in an old period, but there are technological achievements far better than ours (like the motocycles)....

  9. This is really what I expected; it was an action flick so I didn’t hope for a thoughtful plot but it was kind of slow. It was refreshing to have grisly vampires instead of the highly romanticized versions like in the “Twilight” series. My boyfriend and I watched it last night through DISH Online. We just moved and haven’t had our dish installed yet but I work for DISH and saved the day with my knowledge of alternative ways to watch.
