Sucker Punch Negative Review

Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared. Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary. She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls--the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)--to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm). Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey--if they succeed--will set them free.

REVIEW:
I was waiting for this movie for a year now. The trailer was amazing and everytime a poster came out i couldn't wait more. When it came out in US, it went really bad at box office and each week was worse for it. After last night, i learned why this happened.

The movie was confusing and it didn't kept me interested. I couldn't see something special. The music was weird and most of the times a bit out of place. And the acting was poor. Emily Browing was terrible. She always a had face like something was smelling bad. And i understand her sadness and all, but just didn't fit all the scenes. You can't have one expression all the time. Vanessa Hudgens was even worse. Thanks god, she didn't talk a lot. There is no story depth in story or characters. You don't seem them change or learn something. Carla Gugino and Abbie Cornish did the only decent acting for me.

As for the fights and special effects? The special effects were impressive! Some of the best i have seen. And i believe the movie would be good in 3D as well. The fight scenes were really well done as well. The choreography was really good as well and the fight were full of explosions and stuff. BUT even all those didn't make me excited while i was watching. The main point of a battle is to create an excitement, to get you into it and feel the energy of the characters. Nothing like that was there for me. I found them boring. And they always won easy.

I can say that for me except the visual effects the movie has nothing really remarkable or worth watching.
Silvestro on the other hand like it. Read his Sucker Punch Positive Review.

Other cast: Jena Malone (Into The Wild), Jamie Chung (Grown Ups), Oscar Isaac (Robin Hood), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Scott Glenn(The Silence of the Lambs)

  2. I don't think you could say that the acting was terrible, granted that the weird face of the heroine was bad at some points but if you get past that I think she was good, not exceptional but good. And you can't judge the whole movie from 2 bad actors...
Also the lack of character development was one of the things I liked in this movie, it was an action film full of combat and special effects, the movie knows what it wants and places story and characters on lesser fate.
That's my comment and don't think that I wanna hack the server and delete your negative review because it sooo not true, I swear on the lives of romantic film makers.

  4. It wasn't only two actors. All of them didn't really put much effort in it.

And what action film was that? There was no suspense and it lacked the fail epicness to be worth watching. The battles had some cool moves and stuff but they were ending fast, you knew the outcome and except the main heroine the others do almost nothing. Sweat Pea didn't even touch her sword. It was pure decoration. XD

And Alex didn't like it either so it can be just me. Did Periklis liked it? I know, Xrisanthi didn't.

  5. I know why you didn't like it, you can't appreciate a piece of pure action...
You want emotions from the characters and everything to make sense but this movie is a totaly new kind of action, it doesn't even bother with character development.
For the "ending fast" thing, well they had a lot of staff to fit into a movie so time was limited. And how you knew the outcome ? If you remember one of the fantasies failed and the ending of the movie was something that hasn't happened before.

P.S. please don't get me grounded boss, I just like this movie that is so ahead of its time that everyone finds it bad.

  8. i really don't know where to begin

all you do is talk about the acting and the fighting and if it had action or not.. are you guys crazy?

none of you mentioned how disturbing this movie is, the start is so freaky, the whole scenario is the most creepy i have ever watched, it is sick

in the whole movie i just couldn't stop thinking that the girls were raped and forced to prostitution, it was so sick.

the acting was poor, but i loved Carla Gugino and Abbie Cornish was the best for me, she is so pretty

the parts where the girls were fighting, were exiting at the beginning but i got a lot bored because the fight were too long
